Hi there! I'm Annie- a freelance illustrator and artist currently residing in Pittsburgh PA, I am originally from California’s Central Valley. Being from this region of the country has taught me humanity, hard work, and perseverance. I am currently focusing on expanding my portfolio of playful pen and ink illustrations which feature interesting creatures and characters inspired by my travels and adventures as well as the natural world, animals, folklore and magic realism. My style is characterized by delicate line work and an interesting use of form, texture, and color.

I am currently writing and illustrating a children’s book that cautions kids against xenophobia and encourages them to get jazzed about Central America’s vibrant culture. The title is A Bird Abroad. A Bird Abroad’s main character is a shy, clever bird ( a lineated barbet) called Charlie who is accidentally marooned in Costa Rica and, with the aid of 7 native bird guides he travels up through Central America’s culture and landscape back home.

I have had the opportunity to work with clients such as Poco A Poco ATX,  the zine Free Rent ATX and the musical project PR Newman. I have also had the opportunity to work with NBC News National in McAllen Texas where I sketched an immigration trial during the height of the Immigration Reform crisis there. I have also worked with KXAN News in Austin Texas sketching on the sight of a federal trial.

My lifelong love of animals has led me to do many things from pet sitting to volunteering at wildlife rescue shelters and now to creating custom pet portraits.

I am available for commission. Please contact me if you are interested in working with me.
